GATE at Benton

The Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program at Benton is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted, and/or gifted in Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA).  

At Benton, GATE students receive differentiated instruction in their respective classrooms. Students may have different homework that is appropriate for their ability level, and may have also received Independent Study packets. If a student has met a particular standard in their grade level, they may choose to pursue an independent study project while the rest of the class learns the standard already mastered by the GATE student.

VAPA gifted students receive the opportunity at Benton to explore their particular area of giftedness in the arts, and can choose from an array of other electives in the arts.
